My Story – Susan Clark

When I was 21 having just moved to San Francisco, I drove down to the Monterey Peninsula for the first time and fell in love with the area. I walked the quaint streets of Carmel and motored in my little red Fiat convertible down Highway One along the Big Sur coast. Having just moved from Florida, I was awed by the breath-taking rugged coastline and the amazing beauty of the entire area. Since I was just beginning a career in San Francisco, I wasn’t free to move to Carmel at the time, but I promised myself that someday I would move here. Over the years I came to the Monterey Peninsula again and again. After my husband and I met, it became our “special place” and we came down often to play golf and walk the white sands of Carmel Beach – all the time plotting how we could eventually move here. The day came when my husband took an early retirement and we could live anywhere we wanted. By then I was a realtor and I knew I could sell real estate anywhere so we sold our homes, bought a home in Pacific Grove and have never looked back. That’s my story. What’s yours?
